Drives, loads, and unloads any single vehicle having two, three or more axles, and any bus designed to carry more than 15 passengers. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works from shipping lists, move documents, and purchase orders, log books, oral and written instructions.
• Drives any single vehicle having two, three or more axles. Makes pick-ups and deliveries at freight terminals, and company warehouses warehouses. Checks items to be moved for proper packaging to insure safe transportation with the option to refuse for transportation if not properly protected. Assures potentially hazardous materials are properly packaged and labeled.
• Loads and unloads materials, parts, assemblies, equipment and tooling which may involve the use of dollies, fork lifts, and other handling equipment.
• Checks equipment, such as air hose hook-ups, chains, tires, lights, brakes, and gas, water and oil supply.
• Processes documents and reconciles pick-ups made against MTrak requests.
• Performs emergency roadside maintenance work such as changing tires and installing light bulbs, fuses, chains and spark plugs as necessary. Keeps equipment clean by washing and dusting off as necessary.
• Must possess the State required class B driver’s license.
• Meets necessary certifications as required.
• Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required.
Required Skills:
• Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment
• Ability to insure proper packaging for safe transportation and assuring any potentially hazardous materials are properly packaged and labeled.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to use a computer, computer web-based software to trace and track deliveries.
• Good organizational skills and ability to communicate well with customers and management staff.
• Must possess a minimum of California Class B driver’s license, with a Hazardous Materials endorsement.
